QBARS - v2n4 Minutes of the Meeting of the A.R.S., Seattle, WA., November 5, 1948
Minutes of the Meeting of the A.R.S., Seattle, Washington, November 5, 1948
A meeting of the American Rhododendron Society was held in Anderson Hall on the campus of the University of Washington, November 5, 1948. The meeting was called to order by President Henny at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. B. Mulligan in the absence of Mr. George Grace read the minutes of the meeting held in Portland. The minutes were approved and accepted.
A suggestion was made from the floor that since the Society was a national institution, regional Vice Presidents should be inaugurated in districts to carry on meetings and other work of the Society.
The meeting progressed to a panel discussion of species rhododendrons with Mr. Brydon in the chair, assisted by Mr. B. Mulligan, Mr. Lester Brandt, Mr. Endre Ostbo and Mr. Ihrig. Many of the species and subspecies were most ably discussed by these capable gentlemen, and the large turnout of Society members asked many questions and offered their own experiences.
After a brief recess Mr. Mulligan showed a group of fine Kodachrome slides of species rhododendrons taken at the University Arboretum.
The meeting adjourned at ten o'clock.
