'Crater Lake', C. A.
( augustinii 'Barto Blue' x 'Blue Bird'). Hybridized and exhibited by Carl Phetteplace, Leaburg, Oregon. Flowers 8 cm., flat, saucer-shaped in trusses of three, usually 2-3 trusses in a group. Brilliant violet 10B 5/9. Plant upright in habit, 6' x 6' in 13 years. Blooms late May. E. L. 1971.

'Hallelujah', C. A.
('Kimberly', C. A. x 'Jean Marie de Montague'). Hybridized and exhibited by Harold E. Greer, Eugene, Oregon. Flowers 4" across, funnel campanulate, in a ball truss of 13. Tyrian Rose 7.5 RP 4/12. Plant of compact habit 4½' x 4½' in 1 5 years. Foliage deep green, 5" x 2½", narrowly obovate. Blooms in mid May. E. L. 1971.

'Yaku Angel', C. A.
(Selected form of R. yakushimanum ). Exhibited by Harold E. Greer, Eugene, Oregon. Flowers white, campanulate, 2½" x 1½", in a ball shaped truss of 15. Plant compact, and spreading, 3' high by 4½' wide in 20 years. Foliage dark green with heavy tan indumentum. Blooms mid May. E. L. 1971.

Portland Chapter
'Clackamas', C. A. Azalea ('Klondyke' x 'Marion Merriman'). Hybridized and exhibited by H. J. Slonecker, Milwaukie, Oregon. Flowers 3½" to 4" across, widely funnel shaped with a ½" nearly closed basal tube, 10-12 in a ball shaped truss. Orange-red group 24-B with some pink diffusing and an orange flare on the upper petal. Plant medium compact and bushy, 4' x 4' in 16 years. Foliage light green with bronze flushing. Blooms late May. E. L. 1973. (See Color Photo)

Seattle Chapter
'Guardian Fir', C. A.
('Albatross' x ( discolor x 'Tally Ho')). Hybridized by Halfdan Lem. Raised and exhibited by Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Butler, Bothell, Washington. Flowers 4½"-5" in diameter, widely funnel-shaped, in a ball truss of 8-10. Pink (5R 8/6 to 2.5 R 8/5) with an orange throat. Plant open growing 8' x 8' in 20 years. Foliage medium green and narrowly oblong. Blooms mid to late June. E. L. 1971.

'Winterset', C. A.
( R. mucronulatum seedling). A.R.S. Seed Exchange 1966-84, contributed by Louis Grothaus, Portland, Oregon. Flowers 2¾" across in groups of 3-4, often 2-4 buds on a terminal. Widely funnel-shaped, pink (red group 55D) with green-yellow flare. Plant of upright habit, 5½' x 2½' in 9 years. Medium green elliptic foliage, semi-deciduous. Blooms late February. E. L. 1971.
