R. chapmanii
J. Patrick Tatum
Chemistry Department, Indiana State University

During the summer of 1979, the author received a letter from Mr. Dick Ludington, who is associated with the Florida Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. The Nature Conservancy is very much interested in the preservation of any native stand of
R. chapmanii
. To this end they would greatly appreciate the cooperation of the membership of the American Rhododendron Society in locating any stand of
R. chapmanii
. In particular, Mr. Ludington wants to know if there is a stand of
R. chapmanii
in Torreya State Park. At the present time the Nature Conservancy is pursuing the preservation of the Black Creek stand as a botanical sanctuary. The author certainly wants to thank Mr. John Swisher for his most informative articles on
R. chapmanii
which appeared soon after the one by Tatum and Lake.
