If you want a dream to materialize - start with a dreamer who is willing to work. Through her interest in Rhododendron, she was instrumental in organizing the Birmingham Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society in October of 1969. Our thanks to Mrs. Clara B. Curry who has devoted much of her time and effort in this growing organization - and certainly not in vain.
The plan for the Rhododendron Garden was presented to the Birmingham Garden in 1967. Through her continuing characteristic energy, the Rhododendron Garden is truly a place of beauty with its 2500 hybrid Rhododendrons and companion plants surrounding a waterfall and pool framed with natural rock and Satsuki azaleas.
For her many years of loyal service to the promotion of Rhododendrons in the Birmingham area and demonstrating that they can be beautifully grown in this area, C. Richard Cooper, President of the Birmingham Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, presented to her a Certificate of Appreciation from the Chapter and the Bronze Medal of the American Rhododendron Society.
