Bronze Medal Awards
GREAT LAKES CHAPTER
John Ford
As the curator of the Secrest Arboretum, often working with insufficient staff and resources, you have maintained a level of excellence in the Rhododendron Display and Test Gardens hitherto not thought possible in the continental climate and clay soil of North Central Ohio, your record keeping on both gardens has been immaculate and invaluable, and your great interest in plants and ericaceae in particular is obvious in the labor of love you are performing.
Also of note Orlando Pride presented John with a Red Rhododendron which he named John Ford.
CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
Fred Coe
For your many years of participation in our chapter activities and your knowledgeable contributions toward our education and appreciation of the genus rhododendron, but most especially for your faithful and outstanding work as editor of our monthly bulletin for over twelve years, we gratefully bestow our highest chapter award, the Bronze Medal, this 16th day of June, 1983.
TUALATIN VALLEY CHAPTER
Gertrude and Henry Landauer
Warmth, love, sharing, knowledge and joy of rhododendrons and people express the character of these tireless workers; and the Tualatin Valley Chapter takes pride in awarding them the Bronze Medal on May 14, 1983.
