SIUSLAW CHAPTER
Galen Baxter
In recognition and appreciation for many years of devoted service by serving as a chapter president, show chairman, show judge, willing work on various other committees; for many plants contributed to our plant auctions and for acting as our tireless auctioneer. The Siuslaw Chapter, American Rhododendron Society, is happy to present its highest honor, a Bronze Medal, to Galen Baxter, a charter member of our chapter.

MIDWEST CHAPTER
Don Zaun
For your thirty five years of determination, fortitude and dedicated plantsmanship in a climate always hostile. For your leadership and generosity in sharing your knowledge, plant material and the matchless beauty of your garden with us and for your continuous and inspired support of the Midwest Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society since the inception of the chapter in 1962 — twenty two years ago it is with Affection, Appreciation and Great Esteem that the Board of Directors of the Midwest Chapter proudly presents to you our First Bronze Medal.

PIEDMONT CHAPTER
Tracy M. Lounsbury
As a charter member and past president you have consistently and reliably contributed your time and talents to Chapter activities. You have given freely of your plants and your knowledge, and have made an effort to be a friend to every member while conveying the joy and satisfaction of growing rhododendrons. Never flinching from duty, you truly represent the heart and soul of the Piedmont Chapter, and your influence will be a part of us for years to come.

Herbert Hechenbleikner
As a founder of the Piedmont Chapter, as the creator and prime mover of the Van Landingham rhododendron test garden, as a longstanding officer of the Chapter, and as an organizer of flower shows, you have given of yourself and your knowledge in countless ways. As you have planted and nurtured small plants that have grown into fine specimens, so the success of the Piedmont Chapter has developed as a testament to the interest in growing rhododendrons which you stimulated. We will always be grateful for your involvement.

CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
Fred Cummings
You have given many years of able and devoted assistance to every phase of our chapter activities including the combined responsibility in 1981 of the chapter presidency and the chairmanship of the A.R.S. Convention. Your generous hospitality and talented entertainment have led to a greater camaraderie among us all, and your unending enthusiasm for the genus rhododendron has been a constant inspiration. In grateful recognition for all of this and for your valued friendship, we bestow our highest chapter award.

In recognition of your many years of outstanding contributions on endless committees, for your cheerful acceptance of any task requested of you and for your seemingly tireless energy and enthusiasm, our California chapter lovingly bestows our highest chapter award, the Bronze Medal, to one of our most respected members.
