Welcome, Whidby Island Chapter

At the Richmond, Virginia, October 20th Board Meeting of the American Rhododendron Society, the new Whidbey Island Chapter was unanimously accepted and welcomed by the members of the Board of Directors as the 54th Chapter of the ARS. Leadership has been provided in the formation of this chapter by Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Newcomb of the Seattle Chapter and James A. Ramsey of the Whidbey Island Chapter. The new officers are Don Milliken, President; Brad W. Bixby, Vice President; and Dorothy Stewart, Secretary/Treasurer. The members have elected to join District 1, with Seattle. Whidbey Island is a long narrow island in Puget Sound, north of Seattle. Lovely rhododendrons are grown on this island. The Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens are located here.
