Galle Receives Scott Award
On May 18, Fred C. Galle, internationally acclaimed horticulturist and noted author and lecturer, was recognized as the 1986 recipient of the Arthur Hoyt Scott Garden and Horticulture Award of Swarthmore College. The Scott Garden and Horticulture Award is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the science and art of gardening, and who has helped create and develop a wider interest in gardening. The Scott Award and the Liberty Hyde Bailey Medal, given by the American Horticultural Society, are the highest honors given in horticulture in this country. Galle was awarded the Liberty Hyde Bailey Medal in 1982.
