Bush to direct FPM center

Spectrum Volume 17 Issue 14 - December 1, 1994

Robert J. Bush has been named the new director of the Center for Forest Products Marketing at Virginia Tech's College of Forestry and Wildlife Resources.

The center is supported by a consortium of 55 industry and trade association members, the federal government, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its purpose is to provide the member organizations with market forecasts based on continuing market research and to train forest-products marketing specialists for industry and business.

Bush has served as associate director of the center and, since 1993, as interim director. Internationally known as an expert on marketing strategies for wood and wood products, he has several years of both industry and academic experience.

Bush obtained his doctorate from Virginia Tech under the late director of the center, Steven A. Sinclair.

The forest products center was established in 1990. Since then it has become an important clearing house for the wood industry's market questions. Membership is open for primary and secondary manufacturers of forest products, as well as for wholesale and retail companies and home centers.
