QBARS - v22n3 Eugene Chapter Show
Eugene Chapter Show
It is doubtful if the architect who designed the Civic center in Eugene was thinking of a Rhododendron Show at the time but it really appeared designed for the purpose. The center of the complex is an auditorium, surrounded by open courtyard. Surrounding this is a wide gallery, covered but open to the inside, with the various municipal offices on the outside of the ring complex. The Show was staged in the gallery area and the various nooks and open rectangles adjacent to it. The exhibits had the advantage of shaded open air. The trusses were shown in tubes firmly fixed in decorative shelving at various heights around the gallery walls.
