This is one of a number of fine slides shown by Frank Mossman, M.D. and Britt Smith at the recent Annual Meeting in Eugene. Dr. Mossman writes:
R. occidentale clone SM 218 is a very exciting bicolor, pink overlaid with darker pink markings, and a pleasing yellow-colored standard which tends to spill over on the adjacent wing petals. There is a moderate imbrication of the upper petals with tendency to lesser imbrication of the lower petals. The flowers occur in trusses of up to 25, each flower measuring as much as 3¼" in diameter, on a shrub about five ft. high, at the top of an 800 ft. hill, ½ mile from the Pacific Ocean in Humboldt County, California.
