In Memoriam: B. Frank Heuston

B. Frank Heuston, a longtime resident of Shelton, died on June 30, 2008, at the age of 94. He was born in Tacoma where he grew up and graduated from Stadium High School and the College of Puget Sound. Frank went on to graduate from the University of Washington Law School in Seattle. He served in the Navy during World War II.
In 1940 he came to Shelton and practiced law for more than 57 years. During the early years of his career he also served as prosecuting attorney, city attorney, and police judge. He began hiking and climbing at the age of 12. He climbed to the top of Mount Rainier ten times as well as scaling more peaks of the Northwest. After giving up climbing, he began maintaining Mount Elinor, Mount Rose, and Big Loop Trails and others with his friends.
Frank was a member of the Shelton Chapter, ARS. He enjoyed growing rhododendrons and propagating them, often giving plants grown from cuttings to his friends and the Shelton Chapter members. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, two daughters, one son, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
