Ruth Kees passed away May 7th, 2009, at the young age of 85. The passing of one of our members is always a very sad thing. Ruth Kees was a member of the Cascade Chapter since 1998. Ruth loved her rhododendron garden, which lies on the western slope of Tiger Mountain, just outside the city of Issaquah, Washington. Ruth was very active in local environmental efforts to safeguard the local management of water and general building limitations to improve the area's environmental condition. Ruth had received many awards for her efforts, such as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Issaquah Environmental Council. Ruth was the first recipient of Issaquah's Ruth Kees Award for a Sustainable Community.
