Pollyanna Hale, 73

Pollyanna Hale, who initiated a Russian-language program at Virginia Tech and taught Russian grammar and literature for 27 years, died August 4.

Hale, who was an adviser to the Russian Club, often held club meetings in her home.

She was a member of the Gamma Sigma Delta Honors Education Sorority, the American Association of University Women, and several book clubs. She was an associate member of Sigma Xi, and belonged to the League of Women Voters. Hale held a B.S. degree in education from Kent State and an M.S. in botany from Ohio State.
