CROP AND SOIL ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES.

Assistant/Associate Professor.

Tenure- track (12-month) position available immediately, 70-percent teaching, 30-percent research. Teaching responsibilities will include development of a senior-level course in environmental soil chemistry, a graduate-level course in the successful applicant's area of expertise, and coordination of the basic soils laboratory program. Will participate in undergraduate advising in the popular new environmental-science degree program. Potential research areas include, but are not limited to, remediation of heavy metal contaminated soils and sediments, wetland hydrogeochemistry, modeling of contaminant mobility, and soil geochemistry of land- applied solid wastes and by- products. Must develop an externally funded research program, but significant opportunities exist for collaborative work with ongoing projects within the department and with other departments. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. Faculty Position.

The College of Engineering is seeking to fill a faculty position assigned to the Virginia Consortium of Engineering and Science Universities, located in Hampton, Va. The program is a joint effort of the Colleges of Engineering of Old Dominion University, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and the Applied Science Program of the College of William and Mary, in cooperation with the NASA Langley Research Center and area technical community. Responsibilities include the instruction of graduate-level courses in the areas of aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics and mechanical engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with a broad technical background who can teach general courses in all these areas. The individual will also be expected to develop a research program to support graduate research education in an area suitable to one or more of these departments. Qualifications: Ph.D. in an appropriate area of engineering. Experience with graduate engineering education and familiarity with graduate education and research needs of large federal laboratories such as NASA Langley is highly desirable. It is expected that the selected individual will spend some time on the Blacksburg campus to interact with campus faculty, students and programs.
