Provost committee reports on applicant review process
Spectrum Volume 17 Issue 11 - November 3, 1994
The full search committee for the provost position met on October 20, according to Robert C. Bates, committee chair. The committee continued its review of applicants and finalized a short-list of 10-12 candidates for the position.
Bates, who noted that it is an impressive group of candidates, said they will be invited to participate in off-campus interviews during early November.
The Off-campus Interview Subcommittee presented a progress report on the development of the process for the off-campus interviews. The committee is seeking additional input from various individuals and groups as it refines the interview questions.
The On-campus Interview Committee is developing the interview schedule for the three or four candidates who will be invited to campus for a full interview. The on-campus interviews are scheduled to begin the end of November.
The next meeting of the full search committee is scheduled for November 3. The off-campus interview process will be finalized, and plans and schedules for the on-campus interviews will receive additional review. The search committee expects to complete its work by the end of the fall semester.
Bates said that a decision to appoint an interim provost was not part of the committee's responsibilities. The decision to make such an appointment would be made by President Paul Torgersen, depending on the availability of the candidate who is chosen to fill the position.
