Dwight Shelton has been named interim budget director at the university, according to an October 18 memo from Executive Vice President Minnis Ridenour.
The memo states that Shelton will provide support to Ridenour during the upcoming legislative session, and will assist in the review and selection of a permanent budget director. Shelton will also be responsible for maintaining the budget-development cycle for both the operating and capital budgets of the university.
Former Budget Director Kathye Johnston will be on special assignment in the area of financial planning. She will assist Ridenour in projects including resource use for restructuring, and funding for the integrated space plan.
Shelton, who has been at the university for 15 years, developed the Office of Internal Audit, and served as its director from 1979 to 1985, when he was named university controller.
Lenwood McCoy will serve as interim controller. McCoy, who has been with the university since 1961 has been associate controller since 1985.
