Friends in need
This is a call for help from the university community at large. One of our own, an employee with more than 20 years of service to the university, needs a bone-marrow transplant to fight breast cancer. The treatment is estimated to cost between $150,000 and $200,000 and is not covered by Key Advantage, our medical insurance. Many individuals and groups are hard at work trying to raise funds to cover the cost.
Johns Hopkins requires a $50,000 down payment before a bone-marrow transplant candidate can be admitted to the hospital. Our co-worker simply does not have that amount of money--she is a single parent, with two children in college, and no relatives.
We, as a community, need to help this effort through our endorsement and support to help one of our own in this time of d
