Meszaros establishes scholarship

Spectrum Volume 17 Issue 18 - February 2, 1995

Former College of Human Resources Dean Peggy S. Meszaros has announced that she is setting up a $25,000 endowment for a scholarship in the college. The Alexander L. Meszaros Student Leadership Scholarship is named in honor of her husband, who she says has encouraged her to pursue leadership opportunities throughout her career. It will fund students' attendance at the annual meeting of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the major professional association under which the college is accredited.

"It is important that our student leaders have the opportunity to expand their experience to professional interaction at the national level," said Meszaros, who has begun new duties as provost. She said the scholarship is a way to publicly acknowledge how much she values the support she receives from her husband in her professional endeavors. Both Meszaroses have a strong commitment to education, and Peggy Meszaros said, "A scholarship is one of the best ways for a person to invest in the future. Many students do not have the resources to take advantage of educational opportunities. By endowing scholarships, we can help provide those resources."
