Direct deposit required
Effective July 1, 1995, all Virginia Tech employees will be required to receive their pay through direct deposit. This change is being instituted to make delivery of Virginia Tech's payroll more efficient. For employees who have not completed a direct deposit form by July 15, 1995, special arrangements must be made for delivery of pay.
The only exception to the policy are part-time wage employees working for 90 days only. The staff in the Bursars Office will answer any questions either you or your employees may have regarding the change.

Squires summer hours announced
Squires Student Center will operate on the following schedule this summer: Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-11 p.m; Friday, 7 a.m.-midnight; Saturday, 9 a.m.-midnight; Sunday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
The building will be close for Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4.
DERC to visit Harrisonburg, Staunton
The Department of Employee Relations Counselors will meet with interested employees in Harrisonburg on Wednesday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Virginia Employment Commission located on the Valley Mall Shopping Center access road behind Penney's Department Store, and on Thursday, June 29 in Staunton at the Virginia Employment Commission, 2631 Jefferson Highway (Route 250).
The counseling program provides employees outside the Richmond area with an opportunity to meet individually with a staff counselor and to receive assistance in options for dealing with work- related concerns, discussion of applicable state policies, information on the grievance procedure process, and/or referral for further assistance.
Half-hour appointments must be made in advance. To arrange an appointment, call 1-800-552-9720.
Correction to AY guidelines cover letter
There is an error in the cover letter accompanying the guidelines on the Special Term Classified/Academic Year Appointments. The second paragraph states "For the 1996-97 academic year special term/academic year appointments must be nine-month appointments on the August 16, 1995 through May 1996 schedule only.
The sentence should read "For the 1995-96 academic year...."

Summer hours in effect for Dietrick
The following schedule is in effect for Dietrick this summer:
The Depot at Dietrick is open every day, serving breakfast from 7-9 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
The Food Court is serving lunch only through July 4, Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. It will be closed July 4 for Independence Day. When it reopens, it will serve dinner Monday-Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. from July 5-27
Deet's Place is open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m-11 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cochrane and Shultz Dining Halls, Hokie Grill & Co., and Freshëns Yogurt Shoppe at Shultz are closed for the summer.
Sponsored Programs offering workshops
The OSP Workshop Team will conduct training workshops in June and July for departmental, center, and college support personnel who interact with the Office of Sponsored Programs.
Topics to be covered include budget preparation, forms required by OSP, cost sharing, PARS, subcontracts and consulting agreements, allowable costs, indirect costs, and FRS printout instruction. The workshops are half-day sessions held at the DBHCC.
Deans, directors, or department heads who have business managers, fiscal technicians, program-support technicians, head secretaries, or other personnel they want to attend the workshops should forward that name or names to the OSP Workshop Team by Friday, June 2 (e-mail to hunterm@vt.edu or mail to OSP Workshop Team, mail code 0249).
