Troy receives Thompson Professorial Award for 1995
Spectrum Volume 18 Issue 10 - October 26, 1995
Gregory C. Troy, a professor in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, has been awarded the Dr. E.E. Thompson Professorial Award for 1995.
Troy served as director of the college's Veterinary Teaching Hospital from 1987 until 1993.
In addition to his general faculty responsibilities of teaching, service, and research, Troy is coordinating the development of a new state-wide grief counseling hotline for bereaved pet owners.
"Dr. Troy embodies both high standards of professionalism and humanitarian values, demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills, and has contributed a great deal to the progress of the college, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and our working relationships with the profession outside the college," said Selection Committee chair Don Barber.
The Thompson Award honors "Tommy" Thompson, a Salem practitioner who played a major role in the development of the veterinary profession in Virginia.
