Administrative Services has appointed Steven L. Mouras as university records manager.
Mouras began work October 2 after retiring from the U.S. Army. Mouras comes to Virginia Tech with extensive experience in records management at the federal level. While in the military, he served as an inspector general for a major army command in Europe. Mouras was responsible for assisting an organization of more than 50,000 personnel by resolving issues concerning proper records procedures and ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations.
The university records manager serves as liaison with departmental records coordinators in managing the university's administrative and vital records. Mouras will be implementing a newly acquired software system that will facilitate record transfer, storage, retrieval, and destruction.
The Records Center was moved this summer from leased space to a new University Storage Facility building on Country Club Drive, off of Airport Road. Mouras said "The old warehouse was filled to capacity with over 7,500 boxes from the 46 departments that use our storage facility. We anticipate being able to serve many more departments requiring storage of records in the new facility."
