Jobs at Virginia Tech

Spectrum Volume 18 Issue 14 - November 30, 1995

For the past several years, applicants have had the opportunity to apply for clerical and laboratory positions by using the continuous-recruitment pools. Applicants submitted a state application with a supplemental form for these pools. This information was entered in a data base which matched applicant qualifications with vacant positions as they occurred.

As part of Project Enable, the employment computer system used to track applicants as they apply for positions is being upgraded. With this change we need to review and modify the supplemental forms that are submitted with the application packet for the clerical and laboratory pools. At this time we will also be evaluating the effectiveness of pools in the employment process.

As a result, continuous recruitment for these pools will be temporarily suspended, effective December 1, until the review and modifications are complete. During this period of time, all clerical and laboratory positions will be advertised in the weekly job listing. If applicants are interested in any of these positions, a separate state application must be submitted for each position. When the continuous-recruitment clerical and laboratory pool is re-established, it will be advertised in the job listing and also on the jobline recording.

We encourage you to attend our applicant information seminar available on Mondays from noon to 1 p.m. to learn more about application procedures. Call 1-5301 to schedule the seminar.
