Donaldson Brown Hotel employee awarded top CHSP certification

Bonnie J. Maccubbin, sales and catering manager for Virginia Tech's Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center, has achieved the designation Certified Hospitality Sales Professional (CHSP) from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association.
According to Peter Kipp, director of operational services at Donaldson Brown, the CHSP designation is one of the highest achievements awarded by the Educational Institute.
To qualify for this distinction, hospitality sales professionals must demonstrate their skills and abilities through academic achievement and industry experience. The program requires each candidate to complete a comprehensive examination, which tests skills in the areas of sales, marketing, communications, and hotel operations.
"By completing the program, an individual proves their commitment and dedication to the industry and establishes themselves as attaining validated hospitality-industry standards," Kipp said.
Maccubbin makes arrangements and handles details for university-sponsored events involving meetings and food service at Donaldson Brown, which is a 100-room hotel and conference center.
