FOOD OPERATIONS ASSISTANT A

The department is particularly interested in persons in the field of applied microeconomics, but may be interested in persons in other fields as well. Applicants should have doctorates from or be nearly finished with doctoral studies at top-level departments, and should be able to demonstrate the ability to teach successfully. UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS. Admissions Officer.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions currently has one position available, and other vacancies may occur in July. Currently, Virginia Tech seeks an admissions officer to assist in the development and coordination of the university's highly personalized effort to recruit and enroll minority students, particularly African-American students. This effort involves the extensive use of student, faculty, parent, and alumni volunteers, participation in early intervention programs, and on- and off-campus yield-enhancement activities. Sizable application loads, as well as college fairs and high-school visits, are assigned to each staff member. Possible vacancies will be filled by admissions generalists able to assist in all recruiting and programming activities responding to this ad. Candidates with experience in several of the following will be most attractive: freshman and transfer application review, international-student recruiting, minority recruiting, financial aid packaging, the NSE program, the Exeter Student Marketing System, and demonstrated success in targeted marketing. Fluency in Spanish also would be beneficial. All positions require previous admissions experience, public-speaking experience, and a valid driver's license. Candidates must be able to travel for extended periods of time and have the ability to move and handle boxes that may exceed 40 pounds. A master's degree is preferred. Candidates should be highly motivated, goal-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and tasks. Additional requirements include: a demonstrated ability to work well with a wide range of constituencies, a commitment to customer service and team work, and a willingness to work a varied schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of accomplishment in the areas listed. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience and education. DONALDSON BROWN HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER. Hotel Operations Manager.

Immediate opening for energetic, creative, task-oriented person with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The hotel operations manager is responsible for managing the front office, housekeeping, guest services, and conference service areas of the hotel on a day-to-day basis. The hotel operations manager will work directly with the hotel director in the financial area with heavy emphasis on increasing annual lodging revenues. The individual applying for this position should have a minimum of five years hotel operations experience and knowledge of property management, space, point of sales, telephone, and yield-management systems related to front office operations. The manager will interact and supervise students in the university hospitality and tourism-management department with which the hotel is integrated.
