Obituary - John F. Siau, 75
Spectrum Volume 18 Issue 29 - April 25, 1996
John F. Siau, adjunct professor of wood physics in the Department of Wood Science and Forest Products at Virginia Tech, died April 15 at the age of 75.
Siau had a distinguished career as a scientist and college teacher. He joined the Virginia Tech faculty in 1992 after retiring from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, N.Y. He specialized in wood-transport processes, moisture, preservation, and polymer composites.
While at Virginia Tech, Siau served as editor for the Wood and Fiber journal and completed his second book, Wood: Influence of Moisture of Physical Properties, which was published by the Department of Wood Science and Forest Products in December 1995.
"Siau was advisor, mentor, and friend to numerous graduate students while in residence at the university," department head Geza Ifju said.
