By Sally Harris
Spectrum Volume 18 Issue 31 - May 9, 1996
Virginia Senator John H. Chichester of Stafford County will speak at the graduation ceremonies of the political science department Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m. in Squires Colonial Hall.
Chichester has represented the 28th Senatorial District of Virginia since 1978. He serves on four standing committees: Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, Commerce and Labor, and Education and Health. He is co-chairman of the Finance Committee.
The Commission on the Future of Higher Education in Virginia, chaired by Chichester, completed its work in December 1995. The commission report articulates goals for efficiency and quality in Virginia's colleges and universities and methods by which those goals may be achieved.
Chichester is past chairman of the 16-state Southern Legislative Conference. He is a member of the Executive Committee and the Governing Board of the Council of State Governments.
