Agouron Pharmaceuticals, the company where Bai Hong, widow of Chen Liang is employed, has established a fund for the family.
The information regarding it is as follows. Checks should be made payable to: Chen Liang's Minor Children Education Trust. The address to which they should be sent is: Human Resources, Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., 10350 N. Torrey Pines Rd., La Jolla, CA, 92037.
Liang, 32, was one of three San Diego State professors shot and killed in August at a critique of a graduate-student's thesis. Liang worked with Craig Rogers, former director of the university's Center for Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, for about five years.
After receiving his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 1990, Liang taught and conducted research at Virginia Tech and was a senior researcher at Rogers' Blacksburg firm, Paradigm Inc. He left Blacksburg in August 1994 to accept a tenure-track position at San Diego State.
A memorial service for Liang was held on campus Tuesday.
