Hincker promoted
Spectrum Volume 19 Issue 11 - November 7, 1996
Charles Steger, vice president for Development and University Relations, has announced that Larry Hincker has been promoted to associate vice president for University Relations.
Hincker has served as director of University Relations since 1990. He is responsible for the university's public-relations, publications, and electronic-communications activities. WVTF public radio also reports to Hincker.
"The reclassification of Larry's position is fitting as it more accurately recognizes the level of leadership that he provides and the scope of his responsibilities," Steger said. "His new title underscores the important role that the Office of University Relations plays in Virginia Tech's strategic initiatives in institutional advancement."
Steger said this restructuring brings the office's organization structure more in line with the strategic goals of the university's communication and development efforts.
"I am appreciative of the recognition of the role which communications and public relations plays in the life of the university," Hincker said. "The Office of University Relations will continue to provide support for all university initiatives supporting the missions of education, research, and public service."
Hincker credits the faculty and staff members under his direction for the organization's quality work and reputation as a highly professional organization.
Hincker came to Virginia Tech in 1988 as director of Educational Communications. He studied architecture at Virginia Tech, and recently earned an MBA from the Pamplin College of Business.
