Several faculty members in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine were honored for excellence in teaching during the College's 13th Annual Awards Program.
W. Edward Monroe, an associate professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, was awarded the "Norden Distinguished Teacher Award," a national award presented on the basis of "outstanding teaching ability, leadership and high moral character."
Bonnie J. Smith, an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, was presented a Virginia Tech Certificate of Teaching Excellence and the College Teaching Award for her outstanding performances in the classroom.
John L. Robertson, an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, earned the "Class of 1999 Teacher of the Year Award; R. Lee Pyle, a professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, was awarded the "Class of 1998 Teacher of the Year Award;" and S. Dru Forrester, an associate professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, was presented the "Class of 1997 Teacher of the Year Award."
Also, 56 students were formally presented 31 different scholarships during the annual event, which seeks to recognize both the donors who fund the scholarships, and the students who earn them.
