Tuition-waiver program changed
Spectrum Volume 19 Issue 14 - December 5, 1996
According to Dennis Eavey, human resource manager, there are important changes to the tuition-waiver program for full-time salaried faculty and staff members.
These changes have been made to streamline the process and assure compliance with new federal tax laws.
The department-head signature on the Request for Waiver of Tuition will serve as certification of eligibility and also serve to waive the 90-day waiting period for new employees. This will streamline one process and eliminate two entirely.
Time sheets for the waiver program which must be completed by classified employees will no longer be submitted to Personnel Services, but should continue to be maintained in the home department. Unfortunately, federal tax laws have caused a need to require an additional form from graduate students.
This new form is the Graduate Student Tuition Waiver Job Relatedness Certification (P-118) and should be submitted with the Request for Waiver of Tuition. The revised forms are now available on the Personnel Services Gopher. Hard copies of this communication and the new forms will be distributed in the very near future. Your assistance in the destruction of the outdated forms and implementation of the new process is greatly appreciated.
