Dear Faculty and Staff
Spectrum Volume 19 Issue 25 - March 27, 1997
Virginia Tech will celebrate Founders Day on Friday, April 4. This year's celebration also marks a special milestone in the life of the university. It kicks off a year-long celebration in honor of the university's 125th year of service.
I want to personally invite every faculty member, every member of the classified staff, and every student who is available, to attend the ceremony that begins at 3:15 p.m. in Burruss auditorium. Throughout the coming year, I encourage everyone to participate in the anniversary celebrations across the campus.
Founders Day is the one time in the year when Virginia Tech can pause and reflect upon the achievements of the faculty, staff, and students. It is a time to recognize those things that make a university great: innovative teaching, outstanding research, and students with a passion for excellence. The annual convocation is also a time to recognize those individuals who work quietly and efficiently behind the scenes to make Virginia Tech the caring and well-run institution it is today. It is a time to take stock and reflect on the many things we do well at Virginia Tech.
Please join me on Founders Day and encourage your friends and colleagues at attend this important occasion in the life of the university.
