Peter W. Kipp, director of hotel and operating services for Virginia Tech's Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center (DBHCC), has announced his retirement effective July 1, 1997.

Kipp joined the university as manager of DBHCC in 1987. He served previously as general manager for the Hotel Roanoke and director of marketing for the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of DBHCC, Kipp teaches a course in lodging management for the department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

"We have been extremely fortunate to have someone of Peter's caliber to oversee our hotel operations," said Dixon Hanna, interim vice provost for outreach and economic development. "He has provided a wealth of expertise and experience over the past 10 years. While we're sorry to see him go, we wish him well in his retirement."

Kipp said he had no immediate plans for his retirement, but intended to remain active in various hospitality organizations.

A national search is under way to fill Kipp's position.
