Training and Technical Assistance Center, College of Human Resources and Education. Severe-Disabilities Coordinator (re-advertisement). The College of Human Resources and Education is seeking an individual to work as a team member to deliver technical assistance to educators and administrators in the area of special education, birth through 22, in 34 school divisions in southwest Virginia. The position requires specific emphasis on students with moderate and severe disabilities. Job responsibilities include coordination and delivery of individual and classroom consultations in educational settings and writing consultative reports; coordination and delivery of regional training activities; dissemination of information and resources; and management, training, and loan of augmentative communication and assistive technology. The job demands strong problem-solving, team-building, and collaboration skills; ability to communicate with teachers, therapists, para-professionals, administrators, and community-service personnel; and sensitivity to the unique needs of the school divisions served by the project. The severe-disabilities coordinator will report to the project directors. Overnight travel may be required. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Requirements: master's degree in special education or related field; experience in working with students with moderate and severe disabilities; demonstrated knowledge in the areas of positive behavior support planning, curriculum adaptations and accommodations, assistive technology, communication, and person-centered planning; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage a variety of tasks with varying intensities and priorities; ability to travel. Salary range is $33,000-36,000 commensurate with education and experience (full-time, 12 months). State benefits apply. Position is available from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999. An Extension agent holds lecturer rank, non-tenure-track, professional faculty position. A master's degree is required. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position #111208, Animal-sciences agent in Giles County: requires basic knowledge of animal nutrition; health, animal care, and reproduction; production and financial management; marketing; biotechnology developments; waste management and utilization; and water quality. Agent must determine program needs by monitoring trends and issues, involving Extension leadership councils and advisory committees; design programs to meet needs of target audiences, specify program goals and objectives, and identify resources; inform clientele of program activities; use appropriate technologies to plan and deliver programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, one-on-one visits, on-farm demonstrations, field trips, and tours; maintain knowledge of current research information; develop computer applications; develop and implement evaluation plans; recruit and utilize volunteers; and report results to clientele, public, and administration. Master's degree or imminent in related discipline is required. Current Virginia Cooperative Extension faculty members with bachelor's degree may be considered based on specialty, expertise, and performance. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers; experience in relating with people. Experience in planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs preferred. Computer/computer software knowledge desired.
