Spectrum Volume 21 Issue 05 - September 24, 1998
The 1998 Workshop on Energy Technology Partnerships 2000, November 8-10 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, is aimed at facilitating partnerships to produce new energy technology, venture capital, energy efficiency and environmental quality.
The idea for the event came from the Virginia Energy Technology Industry Steering Committee of the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT). The impetus came from legislation passed by the 1998 General Assembly that initiates electric-power restructuring in the state.
Speakers will include Lieutenant Governor John Hager, State Senator Jackson Reasor, former Exxon CEO Cliff Garvin, CIT President Robert Templin, and Siemens Automotive Vice President John Olsen.
In addition to bringing industry, government and academic representatives together for partnership discussions, the workshop will offer expert information on emerging energy technologies, restructuring and convergence of the energy industry, manufacturing technologies, tools for energy management and efficiency, and financing energy technology businesses.
The CIT and the Energy Management Institute of Virginia Tech are presenting the workshop, with sponsorship from the U.S. Department of Energy, Virginia Power, Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, Solarex, and the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy.
