Benefits Fair scheduled for October 6 at Squires

The annual Benefits Fair sponsored by Personnel Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Squires Commonwealth Ballroom.
The Benefits Fair is free to all faculty and staff members, retirees, and their adult family members. Employees are allowed to use up to one hour of work time in addition to their lunch hour or annual leave to attend this event.

The following seminars will be offered in conjunction with the Benefits Fair. Please note the room number and time of each seminar. Please register by completing the registration form attached to the brochure you receive in campus mail and return to Personnel Services, 142 Southgate, mail code 0318 or e-mail at cpratt@vt.edu .
A. What Supervisors Need to Know, 1 p.m., 219 Squires. This seminar will be presented by the staff of Personnel Services and will provide information on workers compensation, employee assistance, leave sharing, family medical leave act, and leave without pay.
B. Too Many Tasks, Too Little Time, 11:30 a.m., 236 Squires. Cathy Jacobs, director of the Office of Family Support will explore survival techniques that can make juggling work and family responsibilities a little easier. Tips for getting housework done, enlisting everyone's help, easing the morning rush, creating family schedules, changing your attitude, generally reducing stress, and more.
C. New Sick Leave, Long-Term and Short Disability approved under Senate Bill 126, 10 a.m. or 2 p.m., 234 Squires. Doug Martin, Personnel Services. Information provided regarding individual choices that have to be made on this plan between Jan. 1 and March 31, 1999.
