INSTRUCTIONAL

Department of Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise. Assistant Professor. Tenure-track assistant professor for exercise science. Position begins as early as January, 1999. Expertise in neuroscience or musculoskeletal physiology is desirable. Applicants should have an interest in special populations and conditions such as aging, neuromuscular disorders, and/or chronic orthopedic difficulties. Teaching responsibility will include undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science. Applicants should have post-doctoral training and an ability to obtain external research funding. Teaching experience is important. The Reynolds Homestead. Programming Coordinator . The Reynolds Homestead is an Arts and Sciences Continuing Education Center in Critz. This is a new position. Duties include 1) creation and implementation of a coherent summer program consisting of concerts, workshops, classes, and special events; 2) development of children's programs throughout the year, both on-site and in the schools; 3) initiation of outreach programs in the community to recruit volunteers and identify the region's programming interests; 4) contribution to long-range planning for the program and the facility. Grant-writing experience an asset; initiative, energy, and flexibility a necessity. This is a faculty-level position. B.A. required; M.A. preferred. Salary: $28,000, plus benefits. This is a restricted position with an anticipated duration of two years, with extensions possible based upon performance and funding. Public Service Programs . Research Associate . Research associate of economic and community development. Calendar-year faculty position. The successful candidate will serve as coordinator of community planning and development projects with the Economic Development Assistance Center, Public Service Programs. The incumbent will coordinate EDAC projects including research, report writing, budget development, project presentation, and client-relationship management. The incumbent will conduct applied-research projects focusing on downtown market analyses, community development, target-industry analyses, feasibility analyses, industrial-park development, and business-incubator feasibility studies. The successful candidate will collaborate with college based and peer Public Service Programs faculty members and will supervise graduate research assistants and students. Education: Master's degree (or candidate with completion imminent) in community or economic development, economics, or related field. Minimum qualifications: Minimum of three years' experience in economic development-related programming. University Academic Advising Center. Director . The position will be filled on or before July 1, 1999. The director oversees a staff of 7.5 FTE professional advisors (including an associate director), two support staff members, manages the unit budget, and guides developmental activities for the center and its staff. The director reports to the associate provost for undergraduate programs. The director is the liaison, with satellite advisors around the campus; serves on related appeals and policy committees; oversees administrative services such as registration, add drop/late drops, academic review, academic appeals; works closely with a variety of administrative offices. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of experience, achievement, and leadership in the area of academic advising, preferably in a unit of comparable scale and mission.
