In 2005 JVER became Career and Technical Education Research (CTER), an official publication of the Association for Career and Technical Education Research published three times a year in April, August, and December.
Organized in 1966, ACTER was formerly known as the American Vocational Education Research Association (AVERA). It is a professional association for scholars and others with research interests in the relationship between education and work, including those with global interests in workforce education research, education, issues and policy.
